The Cumberland Chess Fest Scholastic Tournament is a scholastic chess tournament for children in grades K-12.
LOCATION: Blackstone Valley Prep School, 291 Broad St, Cumberland, RI 02864
TIME CONTROL: 4SS, G/25 d/5.
SECTIONS: Two USCF-rated sections and two unrated sections*
–UNDER 1400 (rated section: USCF membership required**)
–UNDER 700 (rated section: USCF membership required**)
–UNRATED (no membership required)
–NOVICE (no membership required)

** For more information about USCF membership, go to www.uschess.org or call 800-903-8723. NOTE: USCF membership must be purchased or renewed by January 9, 2025, if you plan on playing in a rated section.
Trophies will be awarded to the top three players in each section.
Sections may be combined or split at the discretion of the tournament director. This is a 4-round tournament, but a small section may have to play 3. Full-point byes may apply in sections with an odd number of players, and ½ point byes are available in any round pending early notification to the tournament director. Please bring a chess clock if you own one.
ADVANCE REGISTRATION: Online entry fee $25. ONLINE ENTRY ONLY. Registration closes on January 9, 2025, at 11:59 PM or when we hit the capacity for the venue. Scholarships may be available if needed on a case-by-case basis. Southeast New England Chess Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
DOOR REGISTRATION: THERE IS NO DOOR REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT. ADVANCE REGISTRATION ONLY.
Round 1 starts at 9:30AM. Others on completion of each round. Please arrive and check in between 9AM and 9:20AM. Failure to check in by 9:20AM may result in receiving a bye for round one. Unrated sections may finish around 12PM. Rated sections may finish around 1PM.
