The Ocean State Scholastic Chess League (OSSCL) consists of teams from schools in the state of Rhode Island and gives students the opportunity to play chess against other students from other schools. You must have a minimum of 4 players from your school to participate, but you can have as many as you like. If you have 8 -10+ students you might consider registering 2 teams.
The Ocean State Scholastic Chess League currently has 3 separate school leagues: High School Teams (Grades 9-12), Middle School Teams (Grades 6-8), and we have added an Elementary Team League (Grades K-5) for this upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
Registration for the 2024 Ocean State Scholastic Chess League will open in September 2023 until the end of December. The deadline for registration is December 17, 2023 and the $150 (per team) payment is due by January 15, 2024.
