
OSCA: Rhode Island’s 1st Closed State Scholastic Chess Championship Invitational (Providence, RI)

Closed One Day Event – By Invitation Only (Only for Rhode Island’s Top Scholastic Players)
Prestigious Tournament – 1st Time ever in Rhode Island

Location: The Wheeler School, 216 Hope Street, Providence, RI 02906
Format & Time: 4SS, G/45;d5 – Round 1 will start at 8:30 am
There will be a short lunch break after Round 2. Event should finish around 4:00 – 4:30 pm
We are inviting the top winners from RI Scholastic K-12 State Championship, who will have a playoff to see who will represent Rhode Island at the U.S. National Denker, Barber, and Rockefeller National Tournament of State Champions in Madison, WI on July 28-31, 2025. They will compete against the Top player from ALL 50 STATES to become the U.S. Champion. Winners will go on to World Competitions too! See US Chess Federation links below:
* Qualifying Players include top two USCF rated R.I. students and top 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishers (tied players included)
at the 2025 RI Scholastic State Championship on March 15th:

High School Section (Grade 9-12): Levon He, Roland Bodnar, Jhavin J. Patil, Ali Hamed, Arjun Dasari, John Paul Beyer, William Francis, Evren Ozbek.
Middle School Section (Grade 6-8): Gustav Wernevi, Albert Dong, Om KC, Gabriel Sumilang, Ashot Hakobyn, Devin Tunca, Oliver Tanasio, Mateo Badger, Eli Borgos, Daniel Clark, Nicholas Gil.
Elementary School Section (Grade K-5): Royce Zhang, Devie Coletta, Luke Larochelle, William Poey, Nolan Smith, Jayan Thavaguru, Levi Cisneros, Pranav Muthuselvan, Adam Stern, Celestino Vazquez IV.
Entry Fee: $35. There will be an entry fee to cover cost of trophies, insurance, USCF rating fees, website, etc.
