SUMMARY:Online LICHESS Tournament for Doug's Cancer - Sat. Aug. 23 @ 1:00 PM
DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY\, AUG. 23 @ 1:00 PM – on LICHESS \n\n\n\nFormat: Blitz\, G/3;+1 = (3 Minute Blitz Games with 1 second increment) \n\n\n\nHELP SUPPORT DOUG DURING HIS CANCER TREATMENT * PLEASE GIVE TO THE GO-FUND-ME PAGE CLICK HERE* PLAY IN THE ONLINE TOURNAMENT – LICHESS LINK: https://lichess.org/tournament/SyynOXsj \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDoug Caltaldo and Family – He has a Rare Cancer (Stage 4) with 3 to 6 months to Live\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nDOUG’S STORYHi everyone! Thank you for taking the time as we are trying to help raise money to support Doug Cataldo and his family. Doug is diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer and his doctors have told him only 17 people in the United States currently have this form of cancer. Unfortunately\, the diagnosis is Small Cell Colorectal Cancer\, Stage 4\, which means it’s metastasized to other areas of his body and treatment options are limited. Doug has been told that this cancer is terminal and he likely has 3-6 months left to live and be with his family. \n\n\n\nDoug has been through 10 rounds of chemo with no options given for radiation or surgery\, but the tumors and the pain they cause continue to grow and spread. \n\n\n\nRight now\, Doug and his family are seeking help through Dana Farber in Massachusetts in hopes of finding a way to extend his life long enough to qualify for a trial specific to his cancer type. \n\n\n\nThe family has spent the last 11 months working to help care for him. What this has meant for his family is shouldering travel costs to make sure Doug gets his needed medical care\, attending doctor appointments with Doug\, and making sure he’s eating and staying hydrated to reduce emergent care. This has led to significant financial stressors and worries about being able to be there for Doug without losing their own housing and employment while bills have been left unpaid. \n\n\n\nFMLA has been depleted and this is causing an even greater financial struggle with the current high risk of losing housing\, let alone other bills that have been left unpaid that are only gaining interest. Every month has been a decision of what bills absolutely need to get paid but now even rent has been a struggle. \n\n\n\nAny help given will go towards helping the family regain financial stability during these difficult times and alleviate that added stress so that they can continue to care for Doug and spend what precious time they have left with him. \n\n\n\nThank you so much for your consideration in helping raise money for Doug’s family. This not only helps them but helps Doug continue to have family around him throughout this. Show your support for this GoFundMe
