Welcome to Ocean State Chess Association. We are a non-profit organization that promotes chess for students, schools, and adults in the state of Rhode Island. We organize more chess tournaments than any other U.S. Chess Affiliate in Rhode Island, and help promote chess teams in schools as well as adult chess clubs.
Ocean State Chess Association Founder and President Frank DelBonis has been involved in chess for the past 35+ years. He is original Founder and former President of Rhode Island Chess Association & SENECA (South East New England Chess Association) and navigated these organizations for over 30 years. The Ocean State Chess Association was formed in 2016. However, after hearing the needs of people in 2022, Ocean State Chess has begun to take a larger role in helping expand chess in Rhode Island.
